What I want to teach my children

As i research schools for my younger one I begin to question why am i sending my son to a school so far away and what is it that we want to teach our children. What we want to teach has not changed since time immemorial .

1. Ability to communicate - Both verbally and written

2. Social skills - To be able to be with others sharing, caring adjusting

3. Gross motor skills - To be able to play ball, ride cycle, run

4. Fine motor skills - Do do drawing , coloring

5. Help himself - To do his daily activity himself

6. Cognitive skills - So solve complex problems themselves and have curiosity to learn

7. Creativity - To give enough exposure to have complex imagination

Some where along the way I have lost track my first childs development and don't know how he is doing in these spheres.

Beyond this there are 5 things that i find are extremely important

1. Perseverence /Patience/Grit
2. To listen well and communicate
3. Being diligent and detail oriented
4. To be competitive not with others but with oneself
5. To be curious
6. To be disciplined


I am wondering whether one needs to send the kids so early to school to teach these things . But am intrigued how these can be taught at home.
